GoMovies domains: TO, SX, MS, CC and the complete-address check

Why the domain question is unusually complicated

GoMovies is entangled with the history of 123Movies and GoStream. The original network changed names and domains before shutting down, and later websites reused the vocabulary. This explains queries for GoMovies TO, GoMovies SX, GoMovies MS, GoMovies CC, GoMovies NET, GoMovies IO, “new GoMovies website” and “real GoMovies.” It does not establish a chain of ownership among current results.

A top-level domain—the letters after the final dot—is only one part of an address. Different people can operate similar names under different suffixes. Even a visually accurate copy can change the destination of a sign-in or download button.

The six-part complete-address check

  1. Read the scheme. HTTPS encrypts transport to the named host but does not certify the business behind it.
